Charity and Christmas at "Mediensis" Technical College

Christmas is one of the most beautiful Christian celebrations. It commemorates the birth of the holy child, Jesus Christ. In our college, Christmas is the time for decorating, gift giving and singing carols. There is also the time for thinking at the words of Francis of Assisi:

"Where there is charity and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance".

This week, on Tuesday, two classes of students (XA and XIIA grades) brought gifts for the old and ill people from our town's asylum. Teachers and students also sang carols "O, ce veste minunata" and "Jingle Bells". The classes were coordinated by the following teachers: Mirela Maior, Sanda Pridon and Angela Porime.

I want to thank you all, students and teachers involved in this charitable activity.
Wish you "Merry Christmas" and "Happy Holidays".

Christmas Quotations

Christmas is coming. It is a holiday that commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ. It is also a time of joy, happiness, peace and silence. The modern customs include church celebrations, giving gifts, sending postcards, traditional meals and decorating.

I particularly like the following quotations about Christmas:

"I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all year."
(Charles Dickens)

"I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old familiar carols play
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
of peace on earth
good will to men."
(Henry Wadsworth Longfellow)

"Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful."
(Norman Vincent Peale)

Thanksgiving Day

by Anca Aflat
Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada, on the fourth Thursday of November. It is a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and the preceding year, a day in which families and friends get together for a special meal.

Although we do not celebrate Thanksgiving in our country, I think we should take the time, from once in a while, to be thankful for what we have instead of wishing for more. We should be thankful for each new day we get to spend with our loved ones, for our health, our pets and our parents, for being able to step outside to breathe in fresh air, for the opportunity to attend school and for people willing to teach, for the sunshine which brightens our days, for our minds which give us the opportunity to think, for diversity, for music, for love and friendship, for each smile which makes our days brighter, for the small things in life, even for our mistakes and the opportunity to learn from them and be better.

This year the students from our college will have the opportunity to say “Thanks” – I wonder what will they be grateful for? What are you grateful for this year?

Our college is celebrating "Halloween" today. "Halloween" activities include trick or treating, decorating, telling scary stories, drawings, making jack-o-lanterns. Trick or treating - Do you know a better way to collect hoards of candy than by scaring their colleagues off?
